stocker et fournir de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie dans le cadre d\u2019une d\u00e9carbonation de l\u2019\u00e9conomie et de r\u00e9duction d\u2019\u00e9mission de gaz \u00e0 effets de serre. Lorsque l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est produit \u00e0 partir de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyse de l&rsquo;eau en utilisant l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 provenant de sources renouvelables (sources non concurrentes), ce que l&rsquo;on appelle \u00ab l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne vert \u00bb peut fournir une \u00e9nergie relativement propre pour divers secteurs, dont les transports. Pourtant, moins de 5 % de la production mondiale d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne est produite par \u00e9lectrolyse de l&rsquo;eau, dont seule une petite fraction est \u00ab verte \u00bb. Le reste est produit par reformage du gaz naturel, \u00e0 partir de la gaz\u00e9ification du charbon ou comme sous-produit de la production de recherche, la principale technologie de production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne par \u00e9lectrolyse alcaline a plus de cent ans. Les technologies en d\u00e9veloppement comprennent l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyse de l&rsquo;eau gr\u00e2ce une membrane \u00e9lectrolytique polym\u00e8re (MEP) et les cellules d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyse \u00e0 oxyde solide. Chaque technologie comprend des cellules \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur desquelles le courant \u00e9lectrique passe \u00e0 travers des \u00e9lectrodes dans un flux d&rsquo;eau en circulation &#8211; avec l&rsquo;ajout de d&rsquo;hydroxyde de potassium (KOH) dans le cas de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyse alcaline &#8211; dans des conditions de pression et de chaleur donn\u00e9es, g\u00e9n\u00e9rant de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les \u00e9tudes d&rsquo;analyse du cycle de vie (<a aria-label=\"ACV (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.weloop.org\/en\/acv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">ACV<\/a>) de l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse alcaline et MEP r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que la consommation d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est responsable de la majorit\u00e9 des impacts de la production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. <a aria-label=\"WeLOOP (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/weloop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">WeLOOP<\/a> a men\u00e9 une \u00e9tude ACV de la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne du \u00ab&nbsp;berceau \u00e0 la porte&nbsp;\u00bb de ces deux syst\u00e8mes, conduisant aux m\u00eames conclusions en utilisant les m\u00e9thodes d&rsquo;\u00e9valuation d&rsquo;impact de la m\u00e9thode PEF 3.0. M\u00eame si l&rsquo;utilisation de sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie renouvelables r\u00e9duit l&rsquo;impact d&rsquo;environ 80% par rapport \u00e0 un mix \u00e9lectrique europ\u00e9en typique, cela demeure vrai si l&rsquo;on consid\u00e8re l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie \u00e9olienne offshore comme la seule source d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 pour le processus. N\u00e9anmoins, les mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res et la consommation d&rsquo;eau contribuent \u00e9galement de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 l&rsquo;impact environnemental du class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En effet, les cellules pour l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ctrolyse alcaline contiennent de grandes quantit\u00e9s de nickel dans leurs anodes et cathodes, un m\u00e9tal ayant des impacts importants sur l&rsquo;utilisation des ressources, l&rsquo;\u00e9cotoxicit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;eau douce et le changement climatique.
