Research
& Development
WeLOOP actively contributes to the scientific advancement of life cycle management by investing in numerous R&D projects at both the national and European levels.

OUR EXPERTISE
In order to stay at the forefront of the latest technological and scientific innovations, our experts dedicate their skills and expertise to meaningful R&D projects. By supporting high-potential initiatives, we foster major advances in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, while providing concrete solutions to current societal needs.
By collaborating with academic partners, businesses, and public stakeholders, we create sustainable solutions that help address environmental and societal challenges.

Horizon Europe R&D Projects
Horizon Europe is the European funding program dedicated to research and innovation for the period 2021-2027. Horizon Europe aims to strengthen the scientific and technological foundations of the EU. The program helps boost the competitiveness of its industry. This support takes the form of grants, usually awarded through competitive project calls.

MOXY
The MOXY project aims to develop a new green, contactless cleaning technology based on atomic oxygen.

Bio4HUMAN
Bio4HUMAN contributes to identifying bio-based solutions for solid waste management in various humanitarian contexts.

CALIMERO
CALIMERO aims to improve current methodologies for analysing the life cycle sustainability of the bio-based industry.

BIOARC
The BIOARC project aims to develop bio-based construction materials from agricultural co-products.

Interreg R&D Projects
Interreg programs are European Union initiatives aimed at promoting cross-border, transnational, and interregional cooperation. They fund projects that encourage regional development, innovation, and environmental sustainability by sharing resources and knowledge between different countries and regions of Europe.

CEDaCI
The CEDaCI project aims to facilitate the integration of a circular economy for the data center industry, and more specifically for critical raw materials in North-Western Europe.

PlastiCity
The goal of the PlastiCity project is to develop strategies and solutions to increase the recycling rate in urban environments from 20-30% to 50% by valorizing these "lost plastics" as a secondary resource.
Various R&D projects

Carbon capture and utilisation or storage solutions
WeLOOP carried out a project with CyVi and ScoreLCA on carbon capture techniques and their utilization or storage, as well as the methodological challenges they pose in LCA.

IRTC Business
The IRTC project is coordinated by the ESM Foundation and funded by EIT RawMaterials. EIT RawMaterials is the largest and most powerful consortium in the global raw materials sector.

LCA and critical materials
WeLOOP, together with ISM-CyVi, BRGM and ScoreLCA, has worked to link Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and raw material criticality in order to improve environmental assessment and strategic decision-making.

InnoData Silicium
The project, led by Resilio France in partnership with Hubblo, EVEA and WeLOOP, aims to create a knowledge base on the impact of digital technology using a building block approach.

BATTERS project
Supported by the Hauts-de-France Region and the European Union, this project led by WeLOOP and Ailoop aims to boost the battery industry by addressing environmental, economic and societal challenges, as well as the criticality of raw materials.
